Frequently Asked Questions – CBD

When it comes to CBD dosage… where should you start?  Who can you trust?
With hundreds of products to choose from, containing anywhere from 1mg to thousands of milligrams of CBD, it’s no surprise the question on everyone’s mind is always:  How much CBD should I take?

You’d think by now, after all the research into CBD and cannabis, we’d have the perfect answer. Even with more studies than ever before about the benefits of cannabinoids, we just don’t, and here’s why…

There’s NO standardized dose for CBD because everyone’s body is unique and metabolizes things differently.  What may work well for me may be too much or too little for you.  This is why, we have a recommended starting dose and then encourage you to find the appropriate dosage that works best for you.

But we do know this…

Cannabinoids are incredible compounds that deliver individualized experiences. Everyone’s biology is unique, just like DNA, one’s endocannabinoid system, metabolism, body structure, internal workings are different in each of us.   The dosage level that works for One might not be enough for Another to get the same benefits.   Which is why mainstream researchers and physicians alike are rethinking the “one size fits all” model of health in favor of a more customized approach.

So far there have been no negative side effects reported from people taking Low THC CBD Hemp Oil products.   However, if you are looking for a good starting point, we provide a starting dosage recommendation on all our consumable products.  In addition, below are a few pointers we have gathered from personal and/or user feedback experience.  These pointers might help you experience maximized benefits of CBD Oil.  Just keep in mind, that it all depends on what condition(s) and/or alignment(s) you are looking to take CBD Oil for and one’s own unique biological makeup.

  • ALWAYS Listen to your body – only you can determine what your body is telling you.
  • Remember it takes a little time for the body to build up the cannabinoids in our system to feel the benefits – very few will have the unique experience of taking one dose and obtaining optimal results.
  • Try a loading phase for 3 to 6(max) days. Take a single serving twice a day (early morning and before bed) then back down to a daily single serving and access your well-being.
  • Stabilize your dosage level for 2 wks before increasing the dosage level.  Only increase until you feel symptom relief – otherwise you are just wasting your money – more is not better.
  • If at ANYTIME you feel discomfort or worsening of symptoms: 1. STOP taking or try decreasing the amount of CBD and seek medical guidance.  Talk to a trusted healthcare practitioner who is CBD knowledgeable.

Listening to your body is of the utmost importance.  Some people keep a journal of their day-to-day well-being to help track how they feel when they make changes to their diet and any new supplement regime.

We believe CBD products need regulatory oversight with industry standards. Currently, like many supplements on the market today, they are not. There are bad actors passing off low-quality snake oil as high-quality CBD oil. DELLA SANO tries to address some of the commonly known games being played in our FAQs. The mislabeling of CBD products is widespread. At best, consumers are overpaying for ineffective products. At worst, they may be consuming dangerous contaminants or the undesired psychoactive cannabinoid THC.

On May 31, 2019 the FDA held a 10 hour public hearing of 100+ speakers to address the industry concerns. Hopefully this is the start in the right direction to help clean up the industry.

“In a widely reported 2017 study on CBD products sold online, researchers found that nearly 70% of 84 products tested were inaccurately labeled, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association. More recently, just three out of 20 CBD products tested in a blind analysis by a California testing company contained the amount of CBD that their label claimed, as first reported by Business Insider. More alarmingly, many products contained harmful gases like ethylene oxide and ethanol that pose particular harm when heated and inhaled.”  Read more about this here.

DELLA SANO believes in providing its customers with only the highest quality products. Thus, we have partnered with the largest known hemp extraction manufacturer who is committed to setting the highest standards in the industry.

Our manufacturer is the largest Intellectual Property Technological Leader in the cannabinoid research, development and extraction industry; employing a large number of engineers, chemists, clinical researchers and JD’s. They are the first, and so far the only, hemp company that has been issued a Certificate of Free Sale and a Manufactured Food Establishment License by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE).

Our manufacturer maintains the truest of essences derived naturally from their proprietary genetic hemp plants which is preserved as Trade Secrets in their Broad Spectrum Phytocannabinoid-Rich (PCR) hemp oil and finished products.  Their proprietary chromatographic purification process selectively removes Delta 9-THC and other undesirable impurities from their Full Spectrum hemp extract and purified oils.  Their proprietary processes do not expose the extracted products to high temperature or adverse conditions as with other manufacturers’ fractional distillation processes.  These latest methodologies preserve the plant’s terpene profile, eliminating potential degradation of cannabinoids and mitigating potential oxidation of other botanical compounds.

Accurate testing of our products is of the utmost importance to ensure our customers get the highest quality product.   Our products are tested throughout the manufacture process using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) instruments.  The final product is tested again using independent laboratories across the country.

This thorough testing regiment is how we ensure no harmful solvents are used in the processing of our PCR hemp oil and that the final product is completely free of solvents and Delta 9-THC.

The independent labs that we work with are fully qualified and capable of accurately testing the critical attributes of these products.  You can view the certificate of analysis for any of our products on our website under each product description or contact customer service for a copy.

Our unique cannabinoid-profile is reflected in our Broad-Spectrum 0.0% THC PCR Hemp oil, containing naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes found in our proprietary hemp genetics.   Our 0.0% THC Hemp oil is 70-90% CBD in addition to 30+ terpenes and other beneficial molecules.   Our extraction & purification process uses a proprietary and patent-pending technology that preserves terpenes and plant lipids, while eliminating unwanted Delta-9-THC, waxes and chlorophyll.

Active Ingredients:
• 70-90% Cannabidiol (CBD)
• Trace amounts of Cannabinol (CBN), Cannabigerol (CBG),  Cannabichromene (CBC),
Cannabidivarin (CBDv), Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA), Naturally Present Terpenes

All of DELLA SANO’s CBD products are completely THC free, therefore they are non-psychotropic and will not get you ‘high’.  You can view the certificate of batch analysis for any of our products on our website under each product description or contact customer service for a copy of the certificate of batch testing analysis.

A medical card is not required to purchase any of DELLA SANO’s CBD products.  Our products are completely THC free and this makes them legal to buy and consume in all 50 states.  We have a testing certificate of analysis for every batch of CBD Oil we sell.  You can view the certificate of batch analysis for any of our products on our website under each product description or contact customer service for a copy of the certificate of batch testing analysis.

The short answer is Maybe. We cannot make any claims on whether or not any of our products will show up on a drug test. All our products are 0.0% THC and backed by certificate of analysis.  There is always the potential to create a false-positive result on antiquated testing equipment. This is no different than if you ate a poppy seed bagel and it showed up as Opium, or taking Propecia for hair-loss, and triggering a false positive for steroid and/or THC.

So, it’s very important to know that:

• We are not legally able to make any recommendations or guarantees regarding drug tests.

• You should thoroughly understand your employer’s drug policy. If your employer has a very strict policy, then please check with your HR department to determine how they view 0.0% THC Hemp CBD Oil.  Since the CBD oil market is fairly new, the FDA is still setting guidelines, and some corporate polices may not be updated yet.

• Before taking any CBD product, ask your lab testing facility if their equipment can separate out the different cannabinoids – some older testing models cannot distinguish between good and bad cannabinoids.

• If any of the above is a concern to you then we recommend not consuming any CBD products, and/or recommend doing some further research.

The short answer is Yes. CBD is CBD, whether it is derived from hemp or from marijuana.  Some strains of cannabis plants do have better phytocannabinoid ratios than others whether from natural genetics through generations of growing techniques or from genetically modified seeds/plants. (DELLA SANO does not believe in nor use GMO products!)

Industrial Hemp tends to be the preferred source for CBD Oil extraction because it usually contains higher concentrations of CBD and other non-psychoactive cannabinoids, such as CBC and CBG and low THC in its natural profile.   Whereas most marijuana plant profiles contain high levels of THC, the cannabinoid responsible for its psychoactive effects, but very low levels of the other beneficial, non-psychoactive cannabinoids.

Hemp products sold in stores are most often made with hemp seed oil, which can contain only trace amounts of CBD, if any. While it has been noted that hemp seed oil can be a great source of nutrition, its marginal quantity of CBD per weight makes it unfeasible as a CBD supplement.

Absolutely not.  Standard hemp seed oil, which can be found inexpensively at many supermarkets, is very different from CBD Oil, especially from the patent-pending extraction process that derives our Phytocannabinoid-Rich hemp oil (PCR) oil extracts. PCR extracts are not derived from the hemp seed. They are derived from the stalk and flowers of the hemp plant and contain a much greater concentration of healthful compounds. Basic hemp seed oil is produced by cold-pressing the seeds of the plant. Our PCR hemp extracts, on the other hand, are created from a patent pending proprietary extraction process ensuring customers a Broad Spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, and fatty acids from the natural plant. This proprietary process prevents the degradation of natural molecules during extraction and purification.

A phytocannabinoid is a molecule synthesized by plants. Phytocannabinoids are being used today to treat a number of human and animal ailments. In 2008, the journal of Neuroendocrinology Letters published a proposal that some of societies chronic health problems that many people face today may be due to an underlying endo-cannabinoid (ECS) deficiency. Some of these aliments include: epilepsy/siezures, certain types of pain syndromes, arthritis, inflammation, migraines, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, acne, rosacea and psoriasis.

Within the Cannabis plant, there are at least 113 known phytocannabinoids. The more commonly used phytocannabinoid components include:

  • Cannabidiol (CBD): anticonvulsant, anti-oxidant, reduces anxiety, treats psychotic disorders, relieves pain, reduces inflammation, relieves spasms
  • Cannabinol (CBN): sedative, antibiotic, anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory
  • Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC): antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, induces a euphoric high, relieves pain
  • Cannabigerol (CBG): antibiotic, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, relieves pain
  • Cannabichromene (CBC): antibiotic, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory,
    relieves pain
  • Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV): induces a euphoric high, relieves anxiety

Our understanding of phytocannabinoid benefits and how our endocannabinoid system (ECS) relates to our physiology and medical needs grows on a daily basis. Doctors, biologists and chemists contribute towards research constantly.

The basis behind the ECS workings comes from two groups of Cannabinoid (CB) Receptors; CB1 and CB2. CB Receptors are classified by the types of CBs that they bind.  When a CB meets with a CB Receptor, the message begins to resonate throughout the cell and eventually reaches out to surrounding tissue cells, adjacent tissues in an organ and neighboring organs. This is why the benefits of phytocannabinoids are so rich – CB1 and CB2 receptors are found throughout the body and cannabinoids help to reestablish homeostasis from within.

Since this industry is relatively new to the marketplace, there aren’t a lot of standards yet, however, we at DELLA SANO are working closely with our manufacturer to help establish and promote proper name usage across the cannabis spectrum so that there is less confusion to the consumer.

Isolate CBD (>99% CBD by potency) has been used for several Investigational New Drug (IND) applications. Requires heavy processing to archive its purity and this processing destroys all other beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes and natural components of the hemp plant. Historically, CBD in a purified form is not allowed in consumer products by the Food and Drug Administration.

Full-Spectrum is just that, technically speaking, it includes ALL essential components of the hemp plant profile which includes major and minor Cannabinoids, terpenes, as well as the euphoric inducing THC & THCV.

Broad Spectrum is the removal of Delta 9-THC and other undesirable impurities from Full Spectrum hemp extract and oils. This is the bulk of what the industry is selling.

DELLA SANO wants your trust, so by our classification, if the THC or any other major or minor cannabinoid(s) are extracted, then it’s considered a broad-spectrum – it’s that simple. If you find a product claiming CBD Isolate or Full-Spectrum CBD, as well as 0.0% THC, then they are just playing a marketing game.

So ask yourself this:
Do you really want to buy from someone that is trying to fool you?
Is their interest in your health, or in filling their own pockets?

We at DELLA SANO are not into playing games, we believe in being honest and transparent so that we earn and deserve your trust. We take your health and well-being seriously.
